What is RICOH THETA? Part 2

This is part 2 which introduces the enjoyment of THETA.
THETA 360-degree images can be viewed in all directions using a smartphone app.

After transferring images captured from THETA to a smartphone, you can freely browse the images by swiping and pinching over them with your fingers. This allows you to look at any of your favorite places as you like in 360-degree. When looking at images this way, it is interesting because things that you did not consider appear in the image. Everything outside your field of vision appears in the image so you can view such things as the scene and facial expressions of people around the camera that you were completely unaware of at the time. The feeling of suddenly capturing the mood of a place is fun.

When using VR view, the visible image also moves as it is linked to the motion of the smartphone. If you use a VR viewer, the image will move in the direction you are facing which enables you to experience virtual reality as though you are actually at that place. Reproducing a space you inhabited several hours or even days ago in front of your very eyes will give you the feeling as though you have slightly travelled back in time.

Since THETA is 360-degree, it will show you an image of a visual point that you would have never seen. Seeing and enjoying a time and space outside of your own perception has great appeal, don’t you think so?
